At least sometimes it is shown that insurance companies are a big problem after you get injured. What is hardly reported is that personal injury lawyers were part of that problem. I learned it the hard way after a road traffic injury in 2015. They misrepresented me, were negligent, incompetent and often seemed to be corrupt (only it would be difficult to prove it). They seemed to care more about the reputation of QBE insurance and their lawyers than telling the truth about the impact on my life. Official statistics say that close to 10,000 people suffer serious injuries on the road every year just in NSW. I believe a large portion of them face the same problems as I did. However, PTSD and the threats from lawyers make it difficult to talk about it.

Telling my story is only first step. While I believe that there is a lot that can be learned from my story, it is still just one story. I do believe that it is not unique, but at least now I do not have resources to investigate other stories. Investigative journalism seems like a right way to go. There are many journalist doing investigative journalism. I asked around trying to find the most popular ones. It is based on very small pool, but I thought it might be still useful.

Letter to journalists

People get tiny or no compensation in road traffic injuries in NSW and it is due to cooperation (corruption) or insurance, personal injury lawyers and some PIC officials

It felt like the QBE (or their lawyer) was pulling the strings during the whole process. I went through hell dealing with it. They used my PTSD to take advantage. I believe lots of people suffer this way. However, even a small amount of information on how corrupt the system is would go a long way to help people to avoid these problems from becoming personal tragedies. I believe such a story would be of high value and interest for many people. I was desperately looking for information and other people's stories about what to do and could not find any. I started writing my story at Alfonsas Stonis personal injury claim - short story. I still have a very long way to go. However, it might already be enough for you to evaluate if you can tell this story to a wide audience.

Official statistics say that close to 10,000 people suffer serious injuries on the road every year just in NSW. I believe a large portion of them face the same problems as I did. However, PTSD and the threats from lawyers make it difficult to talk about it.
