Cycling
There is very popular saying in Australia: cyclist do not pay for the road why would they be allowed to ride on them. The truth is opposite, the roads are paid by tax payers no matter do they own a car or drive. Knowing that wear and tear on the roads from cycling is almost non existent the cars are driving on the roads that should be owned now by cyclist and pedestrians and drivers should at least ask for permission to drive on it. A while ago I found Australian statistics and drivers pay only tiny portion of roads, but I can not find it so easily now. I will come back to it later.
The situation is much better in US, but still road related income covers only 53.4% of state road expenses.
